Lamb Burger (Lamburger)
Ingredients
Patties
- 500 g Lamb mince
- 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 1 Egg Lightly beaten
- 1/2 slice Bread soaked in 2 tbsp milk
- 1 clove Garlic Finely chopped
- 2 tsp Rosemary Very finely chopped
- 1 Lemon, Zest
- 1/2 Onion Finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
Mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Feta Finely chopped
- 2-3 tbsp Fresh mint leaves Very finely chopped
- 1 clove Garlic Finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Parsley Very finely chopped
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
Toppings
- Grilled haloumi slices, or smoked cheddar
- Ripe tomatoes, cored and sliced
- Red onion rings +lemon juice
- Cucumber, sliced
- Lettuce
- Tomato relish
- Ciabatta or burger buns, buttered and lightly grilled
Instructions
- Place the onion rings in a bowl, squeeze a little lemon juice over and a pinch of salt, Toss to combine
- Set aside for 10 minutes, drain and shake dry
- This makes it less bitter and improves the texture
- Add the lamb, cumin, egg, bread, paprika, garlic, rosemary, onion, salt and chilli and some cracked pepper to a bowl and mix until well combined (use your clean hands, it’s easier)
- Shape the mixture into 4 patties, cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes to set them
- ix the mayonnaise, mint, parsley, garlic, feta and lemon juice until well combined
- Taste and season with salt and pepper
- Heat a little olive oil on a BBQ at a high heat (or a pan)
- Cook the patties until browned on the outside and medium/medium well on the inside
- Assemble your burgers and dig in!
