Basmati Rice
Ingredients
- 1,5 cup Rice
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 2 pods Cardemom
- 2 whole Cloves
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 2 small Onions sliced
- 2,5 cup Water
- Salt
Instructions
- Put rice in a bowl with water
- Soak for 20 minutes
- After 10 minutes heat oil in a pot
- Add cinnamon, cardemom and cloves and stir in cumin seeds
- Cook until fragrant and toasted
- Add onion and stir, sauté for about 10 minutes
- Drain water from the rice, stir rice into the pot
- Cook for about 3 minutes until lightly toasted
- Add water and bring to a boil
- Cover and reduce heat
- Simmer for about 15 minutes, until water is absorbed
- Let it rest for 5 minutes
- Fluff and serve
