Basmati Rice

Basmati Rice

Cook Time 50 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1,5 cup Rice
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 2 pods Cardemom
  • 2 whole Cloves
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 small Onions sliced
  • 2,5 cup Water
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Put rice in a bowl with water
  • Soak for 20 minutes
  • After 10 minutes heat oil in a pot
  • Add cinnamon, cardemom and cloves and stir in cumin seeds
  • Cook until fragrant and toasted
  • Add onion and stir, sauté for about 10 minutes
  • Drain water from the rice, stir rice into the pot
  • Cook for about 3 minutes until lightly toasted
  • Add water and bring to a boil
  • Cover and reduce heat
  • Simmer for about 15 minutes, until water is absorbed
  • Let it rest for 5 minutes
  • Fluff and serve
