Grilled chicken on a can (oven)

Grilled chicken on a can (oven)

Start a day ahead so the chicken can marinate a bit
Prep Time 20 minutes
2 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp Paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp Lovage powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 3 twigs Rosemary
  • 1 cup Olive oil
  • Salt

Instructions

  • Start a day ahead so the spices can really get into the meat
  • Clean the chicken inside and outside and dry with a kitchentowel
  • Grate the garlic, take the rosemary leaves off the twigs and chop it up in small pieces
  • Mix together with the paprika powder, lovage, coriander and a bit of salt and the oil
  • Put this mixture on the inside and outside of the whole chicken
  • After that put the chicken for a night in the fridge
  • If you have a rotisserie spit in your oven, put the chicken on it and put in a preheated oven of 180 degrees celcius
  • Don’t put it any higher in temperature, as this will make the outside black before the chicken is done on the inside
  • You should count on 90 minutes in the oven for 1,5kg of chicken
  • At the end of the time you can put the oven a bit higher in temperature to give the chicken a nice colour
  • If you don’t have a rotisserie spit? No worries!
  • And this part I like best about this hehe
  • Use a can of beer!
  • Drink half of the beer. I always leave half of the beer in the can and then I put the chicken on top of the beer can
  • I then put the chicken on the can on top of a dish or baking tray with a layer of water in it to keep the chicken nice and moist
  • Enjoy!
